Job Summary:

The Certified Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to implement treatment plans for residents in a skilled nursing facility. The PTA assists residents in improving daily living activities, functional independence, and overall well-being through therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans focusing on functional mobility, and therapeutic exercises.
  • Document resident progress and treatment sessions accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Educate residents, families, and caregivers on adaptive techniques and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
  • Participate in care plan meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations, including Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current PTA certification and state licensure in PA.
  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility preferred (new graduates considered).
  • Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles and adaptive equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach.
  • CPR certification.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/transfer residents
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and reaching during therapy sessions.
