Job Summary: (Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required)
The ELL paraprofessional work with English language learners in small groups in the classrooms – supporting students to learn English.
Responsibilities:
- Provide home language tutorial assistance in basic subject areas as defined in 6A FAC.
- Provide individual or small group instruction.
- Assist in communication between school and parents.
- Prepare strategies and construct materials for vocabulary learning and regular lesson reinforcement under the teacher's direction.
- Assist with recordkeeping tasks and data collection.
- Participate in required professional learning and meetings.
- Complete required student screenings and assessments.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education and Training:
- ParaPro or Associates Degree or equivalent college credits.
Minimum Experience:
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Written and oral proficiency in Spanish (or prominent language of ELL students)
- In schools with 15 or more students who speak the same language, the paraprofessional must be a speaker of that language.
- Ability to work effectively with children and other adults.
- Sensitivity to the special needs of language - minority students
- Interest in and respect for a variety of cultures.
