As we continue to expand, we are seeking two dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced Construction Estimators to be a critical driver of our business development. We are hiring for two specialized roles:

  • Insurance Claims Estimator
  • Remodel & Sales Estimator

Location: Olympia, WA (Office/Field, serving Thurston County and surrounding areas) Employment Type: Full-Time

The Opportunity

While both roles require precise technical estimating skills and construction knowledge, they serve different critical functions:

  • Insurance Claims Estimator: This role focuses on detailed restoration estimates, negotiating with carriers, and accurately scoping insurance-related repairs (fire, water, storm). The key differentiator is deep proficiency in Xactimate and insurance claim procedures.
  • Remodel & Sales Estimator: This role focuses on client-facing sales, initial scoping, building design-phase relationships, and developing profitable remodel and custom build proposals. The key differentiator is strong sales acumen and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities (Applicable to Both Roles)

  • Detailed Estimating: Conduct thorough site visits, takeoffs, and collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to develop precise, competitive, and profitable estimates.
  • Blueprint & Plan Reading: Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and architectural drawings to develop comprehensive scopes.
  • Documentation: Ensure all estimates and proposals are meticulously documented, detailing assumptions, inclusions, and exclusions.
  • Collaboration & Transition: Effectively transition secured projects to the Project Management team, ensuring a smooth handoff of project details and financial parameters.
  • Market Insight: Stay abreast of construction costs, material pricing, and local building codes.

Additional Specific Responsibilities

1. Insurance Claims Estimator

  • Claims Expertise: Prepare and submit detailed estimates for insurance-related construction projects.
  • Vendor Negotiation: Work directly with insurance adjusters and carriers to accurately scope and settle claims based on industry standards and policy coverage.
  • Restoration Scoping: Expertise in evaluating damage and outlining the necessary steps for complete property restoration.

2. Remodel & Sales Estimator

  • Sales & Client Engagement: Act as the first point of contact, building rapport, understanding client aspirations, and positioning Aetheling as the preferred builder.
  • Proposal Presentation: Prepare and deliver persuasive proposals that clearly articulate the project scope, cost, value, and timeline, leading to signed contracts.
  • Scope Development & Value Engineering: Work with clients and design teams to clearly define project scopes and identify opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality or design.

Qualifications & Requirements

Core Requirements (Required for Both Positions)

  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of direct experience as a Construction Estimator or similar role working for a construction company (residential and/or commercial).
  • Technical Skills: Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and specifications.
  • Field Experience: Previous hands-on field experience in construction is a strong plus.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills, with strong attention to detail.

Position-Specific Requirements

For the Insurance Claims Estimator:

  • Required: Proven proficiency in construction estimating software.
  • Highly Preferred: Direct experience with Xactimate and working with insurance vendors/adjusters.

For the Remodel & Sales Estimator:

  • Required: Demonstrated success in client acquisition, proposal development, and closing sales within a professional construction or services environment.
  • Preferred: Proficiency in construction estimating software.
  • A Plus: Experience with Xactimate.

Salary

  • Base Salary + Commission
  • Salary Range: $62,400 - $92,000 DOE and Credentials
