Overview

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician - II to join our maintenance team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel engines and equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, experience with heavy equipment, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an opportunity to work with advanced machinery, including farm machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle fleets, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, suspension components, and air brake systems on various equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, and brake repairs.
  • Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
  • Conduct welding, fabrication, and assembly tasks as needed for repairs or modifications.
  • Operate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and other specialized tools to complete repairs.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for wear or damage; perform alignments and diagnostics using automotive diagnostics tools.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety standards such as OSHA regulations related to hydraulics, HVAC systems, shocks & struts, and other critical components.
  • Assist in the training of junior technicians when required.

Skills

  • Proven experience in dealership settings or heavy equipment repair environments.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in diesel engine repair, vehicle maintenance, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and air brakes.
  • Familiarity with schematics for electrical systems and heavy machinery diagnostics.
  • Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
  • Skilled in welding, fabrication (including aluminum and steel), soldering, and assembly techniques.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic software, and maintenance equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Good customer service skills for interacting with clients or team members regarding repairs or maintenance issues.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in demanding environments. This position is ideal for experienced mechanics who are passionate about maintaining industrial equipment and heavy machinery while ensuring safety standards are upheld at all times.
