Lead Landscape Designer
This is both a creative and strategic leadership role. You will collaborate closely with our operations team and, as our design team grows, you will have the opportunity to help onboard and mentor future design staff, including a part-time design assistant beginning this winter. This role is also your chance to shape landscapes that make a real difference for clients, communities, and local ecosystems.
Growth Path
At Our Land, we reward performance and commitment. While the base salary range for this position is $65,000 – $85,000, strong performers have opportunities to grow compensation over time through:
● Increased sales performance: Meeting and exceeding annual sales goals leads to
higher bonuses and raises
● Expanded responsibilities: Taking on larger or more complex projects, mentoring
junior designers, or contributing to company leadership
● Longevity & trust: We value long-term team members and regularly review compensation to ensure it reflects both market standards and your contribution to the company's success
Why Join Our Land?
This is more than a design job. It's a chance to:
Work with a mission-driven team passionate about ecological landscaping
Grow professionally in a supportive, collaborative environment
Create landscapes that truly make a difference—for clients, pollinators, and local
ecosystems
- Join a company that values long-term relationships with clients and employees alike
About Us
At Our Land Organics, we design, build, and care for landscapes that restore balance between people and nature. From native plant gardens and pollinator meadows to natural stone hardscapes and woodland restoration, we create outdoor spaces that support family health, local ecosystems, and natural beauty. Our team is rooted in organic practices, native-centric design, and ecological expertise, and we're looking for a Lead Designer / Sales Professional who shares that passion and can help bring our vision to more clients.
What You'll Do
As Lead Designer / Sales Professional, you'll be at the center of our design/build process. You'll combine your ecological design expertise with strong relationship-building and sales skills to guide clients from consultation through construction. You'll develop designs that reflect our values, prepare proposals, and achieve sales goals by delivering thoughtful, high-quality solutions that clients are excited to invest in.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
● Meet with new and existing clients and lead them through the design process from initial site consultation to successfully selling the project
● Apply ecological and organic design principles to create landscapes that make a real impact
● Prepare CAD plans, drawings, plant palettes, and renderings
● Develop accurate proposals and estimates that set clear expectations
● Manage your sales pipeline professionally and hit annual sales goals of $800,000+, with growth toward $1.1M in three years
● Generate detailed work orders and construction documents to set production teams up for success
● Partner with operations and subcontractors to ensure design integrity during installation
● Build lasting relationships with clients through trust, communication, and expertise
● Participate in weekly design and operations meetings
● Work with the maintenance sales team to renew recurring service contracts
● Work full-time plus additional hours as needed to complete jobs
● Mentor future design staff as our team grows
● Represent Our Land as a knowledgeable and professional leader in the community
What We're Looking For
This isn't just about skills — it's about the right mindset. The ideal candidate will be:
● Relationship-Builder: You connect easily with clients, earn trust quickly, and enjoy
guiding people through decisions.
● Ecologically-Driven: You believe in native plants, healthy ecosystems, and organic land care — and want to create designs that make a difference.
● Sales-Minded Designer: You're as comfortable talking numbers and closing sales as you are sketching planting plans.
● Organized & Detail-Oriented: You can balance creativity with accuracy, keeping
projects moving smoothly with timely communication.
● Growth-Oriented Leader: You're excited by the opportunity to grow sales, mentor
others, and shape the future of a design team.
● Deadline Manager: You have the ability to manage multiple projects at once and
consistently meet deadlines
● Professional & Discreet: You maintain decorum and confidentiality in all client and
team interactions
● Self-Starter: You are committed to producing quality work that exceeds expectations without needing to be micromanaged
● Strong Communicator: You bring excellent client communication and presentation
skills to every interaction
● Adaptable: You're comfortable with changes in workflow and can pivot quickly to meet project needs
● Problem-Solver: You are highly proactive, offering feedback and solutions rather than just flagging issues
Background & Experience
● Bachelor's degree in landscape design, landscape architecture, or related field (or
equivalent experience)
● At least 5 years in landscape design/sales with proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets
● Proficiency in CAD software (Vectorworks preferred)
● Strong knowledge of native plants, ecological design, and hardscape principles
● Google Workspace proficiency
● Valid driver's license
Compensation & Benefits
● Salary: $65,000 – $85,000 based on experience
● Performance Bonus: Annual year-end bonus tied to company and individual
performance
Benefits:
● 13 days PTO to start plus paid holidays
● Medical, dental & vision insurance (75% paid by company)
● SIMPLE IRA retirement plan
● Company-Provided Tools: company vehicle for client visits and project travel,
plus a phone and laptop
● Professional development support
● Flexibility to work from home when not at the shop or on-site
Schedule
● Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm
