The Fabrication Engineer I at Digifabshop/CWKA will be the essential digital artisan turning visionary concepts into buildable reality. You will be a solution-oriented collaborator, leveraging your digital expertise to transform architectural designs into precise 3D models and fabrication-ready 2D shop drawings. This role is your opportunity to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment where you will tackle engaging and complex challenges.

What You'll Achieve in Your First 6 Months:

  • Master Our Workflow: You will become fully proficient in our project lifecycle, from initial data analysis to final deliverable review.
  • Deliver a Key Project Component: You will take ownership of developing the fabrication-level 3D models and 2D shop drawings for a significant component of a live architectural project.
  • Integrate with the Team: You will build strong collaborative relationships with Project Managers, CNC Programmers, and Job Captains, becoming a trusted and essential team member.
  • Contribute On-Site: You will assist with an on-site survey, gaining hands-on experience with laser scanning and field verification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive 3D parametric and static models at fabrication-level accuracy and tolerances.
  • Extract clear, accurate, and consistent 2D shop drawings directly from these models for client approval and internal fabrication.
  • Analyze data from architectural drawings and models, synthesizing it into actionable information.
  • Generate drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and other documentation to support timely and accurate material procurement.
  • Manage your project and production goals to consistently meet deadlines.

What We're Looking For:
Core Qualifications (What you'll need to succeed):

  • Demonstrated experience in architectural fabrication or digital modeling, typically gained over 1-3 years.
  • Proficiency in Rhino 3D.
  • A strong ability to produce fabrication-level 3D models and clear 2D shop drawings.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Great if you have them):

  • A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience with custom or geometrically complex projects.
  • Basic parametric modeling skills in Grasshopper.
  • Familiarity with laser scanning and point cloud processing.
