Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced payroll professional to manage the HR, payroll and compliance functions in our fast-paced company. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, have a strong work ethic, reliable attendance, an eagerness to learn and the desire to contribute to the growth of our dynamic company.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll & Compliance

  • Process weekly payroll, including certified payroll, union and prevailing wage reports when applicable.
  • Manage employee records, tax filings, and benefits deductions.
  • Process employee expense reports and reimbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll regulations as well as applicable union and local labor agreements.
  • Manage health insurance plans, employee participation and deductions.
  • Oversee compliance of 401k plan while processing withholdings and contributions.
  • Complete year end 1099 and W-2 filings.
  • Facilitate annual general liability and workers compensation insurance audits.
  • Record and reconcile credit card transactions.
  • Post payroll related transactions to the general ledger.
  • Research, track and resolve accounting discrepancies and documentation issues.
  • Organize and maintain both physical and digital filing systems efficiently.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports, complete special requests, perform data entry, filing and administrative tasks as required.
  • Support the field, management and accounting teams as needed.

Requirements:

  • 5 plus years progressive experience in payroll.
  • Expertise using Microsoft office products, particularly Excel.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent critical thinking.
  • Exceptional accuracy, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Ability to proactively identify and resolve issues in a timely fashion.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and exercise good judgment.

Preferences:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Experience utilizing construction accounting software such as ComputerEase.
  • Payroll processing experience in a commercial construction environment.
  • Human resource management is a plus.
