Description
Job Title: Branch Floater
Location: Various Branches
Reports To: Branch Manager
Job Summary
The Branch Floater plays a key role in supporting multiple departments—including Installation, Tarp Fabrication, Packaging, and Shipping—by performing hands-on tasks that ensure products are manufactured, assembled, packaged, and shipped with accuracy, quality, and safety. This position requires adaptability, strong teamwork, and attention to detail. Employees progress through levels (I–III and Lead) based on experience, skills, and leadership ability.
Department-Specific Duties
Installation
- Assemble and install tarp systems (side-to-side roll, trap, cable, Arm, SWAT, ShurTite).
- Weld, train, and lead peers as experience grows.
Tarp Fabrication
- Measure, cut, weld, sew, and assemble tarp materials.
- Inspect fabric for defects and ensure accuracy of finished tarps.
- Operate sewing machines, heat welders, and cutting equipment.
Packaging
- Package and label products accurately.
- Operate banders, shrink wrap machines, tape/staple guns, drills, and impacts.
- Prepare shipments using company software, organize inventory, and follow dispatch reports.
Shipping
- Prepare and verify outgoing shipments, invoices, and packing lists.
- Load/unload trucks, wrap and bundle tubing, and package parts.
- Ensure shipments meet specifications and carriers' requirements.
Floater I – Entry Level
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates tool and equipment competency
- Completes basic tasks within one or more departments (e.g., 1 tarp fabrication step, 2 system installations, basic packaging/shipping tasks).
Floater II – Skilled Level
Responsibilities:
- Meets all Level I requirements.
- Demonstrates proficiency in multiple departmental tasks (e.g., 3 tarp fabrication processes, 4 system installations, advanced packaging/shipping functions).
- May assist with training peers.
- Welding and intermediate equipment operation proficiency required for installation roles.
Floater III – Advanced Level
Responsibilities:
- Meets all Level I & II requirements.
- Demonstrates full independence across multiple departmental tasks (e.g., 6 system installations, advanced tarp fabrication, dispatch reporting, full shipping cycle).
- Provides training and guidance to peers.
- Works effectively without supervision and makes sound decisions.
- Displays strong communication and teamwork skills.
Floater – Lead Position
Responsibilities:
- Must meet all level 1 requirements
- Must meet all level 2 requirements
- Must meet all level 3 requirements
- Exhibits strong potential for advancement into a leadership role within the company. Possesses at least 4 of the below skills and has the ability to be trained/coached in further leadership skills. Skill set includes:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES
Must be able to pass forklift certification test and drive a forklift.
