Role Summary

We are seeking a Telecommunications/Communications Engineer to support the design, development, and maintenance of communication systems across multiple engineering projects. The engineer will create detailed engineering plans and specifications, lead or support project teams, and serve as a key representative for the communications department in all network and telecom-related initiatives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed engineering plans, designs, specifications, and standards for telecommunications systems.
  • Conduct studies, surveys, and cost estimates for new and existing projects.
  • Lead or support teams of engineers and technicians in the design, implementation, and daily support of communication systems.
  • Represent the communications department in design reviews, installations, and maintenance activities.
  • Gather requirements and manage projects from concept through final design, build-out, and operational support.
  • Prepare and review communication design specifications, drawings, and documentation.
  • Review material and labor estimates prepared by project engineers.
  • Perform site inspections to ensure quality of vendor work and construction materials.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering staff and cross-functional teams.
  • Develop, test, and validate network and communication system designs.
  • Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders, external vendors, and customers.
  • Analyze communications data for existing networks and proposed solutions.
  • Develop or update processes to improve communication service reliability and efficiency.
  • Oversee project management tasks including meetings, schedules, and progress reporting.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for management.
  • Respond to emergencies or abnormal conditions, including potential 24/7 support during service disruptions.
  • Supervise and review work of junior or lower-level staff when acting as team lead.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in telecommunications, electrical, or related disciplines.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools, MS Word, Excel, and database/mainframe applications.
