Inside the Role
The Head of Product Engineering Software & Electronics (TT/S) within Truck Technology Group (TT) is seeking a highly capable, organized, flexible and motivated individual for the Support Manager position. The role of the Support Manager is to act as chief of staff, lead strategic initiatives, anticipate and avoid problems, serve as a confidant, and assist with the day to day operation of the organization and executive team. The ideal candidate will be independent and able to exercise good judgement, while working in a fast-paced, global, and multi-cultural environment.

The role is key to driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and strategy deployment within TT/S. It is also responsible for global communications and identity within TT/S. The Software & Electronics Engineering organization has major locations in Germany, the U.S., and India. Candidates must possess an ability to engage in discussions, facilitate and drive organizational change in a global work environment across time zones, locations, cultures and languages. Frequent interaction with Daimler Truck Board support teams will be required, utilizing strong networking skills.

Position offers a starting salary range of $133,000 – $170,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Ensure topics and documents are prepared and submitted in a timely manner to various steerco's, including TT OpCom, TT PSC SW EE, Truck Board, and Chief Engineering Boards.

  • Keep the Collaboration Model up to date and lead extra tasks related to the collaboration model (e.g. employee survey, MS Teams App, Intro to TT/S deck, etc.)

  • Together with the Communications Coordinator and Joyful (vendor) act as Head of Comms for TT/S ensuring high quality execution for the monthly newsletter, personnel announcements, social intranet posts, news flashes, LinkedIn group, and other various activations.

  • Be the key person to TT communications.

  • Work with a high degree of organizational and political intelligence.

  • Prepare executive correspondence and presentations.

  • Track and assist action items assigned to the leadership team.

  • Manage weekly staff and technical meetings by managing the pipeline, preparing agendas, organizing presentations, and sending minutes.

  • Support global department events including, but not limited to, town halls, and offsite meetings, summer and winter fests.

  • Organize 5-6 strategic executive workshops each year with agenda design, presenter preparation, workshop facilitation, capture document creation, and task follow-up.

  • Establish a strong network and cooperate with departments in Daimler Truck & Buses worldwide.

  • Indirectly lead the global network of support managers for the leadership team to ensure alignment on tasks, communications, and planning.

  • Update and track quarterly goal achievement in JIRA

  • Track and prepare for FOH and Cost Down Europe reviews.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field plus 8 years of relevant experience

  • Strong familiarity with Engineering processes and organization

  • Technical / Engineering background (acquired through education or on the job)

  • Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly across all organizational boundaries

  • Previous experience leading projects

  • Ability to work independently and possess strong analytical skills to think critically and develop viable business recommendations which support cost and performance goals

  • Strong leadership skills and exceptional communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization, across departmental boundaries, cultures, languages and locations

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, as well as demonstrate a willingness to learn other systems as necessary

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Ability to travel as needed and to adjust the work hours to work across time zones, including regular early morning meetings.

  • Emotional Intelligence and Situational Leadership Style

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Previous experience in an executive support role

  • German language skills
