Job Requirements
POSITION SUMMARY
Coordinate and implement education and staff development programs to promote safe and
effective patient-centered care in Heart and Vascular Services departments for the Hospital
Division. Participate in the development of policies, procedures, protocols and order sets for Heart
and Vascular Services. Implementation and monitoring of quality initiatives and of Health First
policies and objectives.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Works with leadership, medical director(s) and staff to coordinate and ensures unit
compliance with guidelines of accrediting and regulatory agencies, unit standards of care
and practice, and organization policies and procedures.
- Manages the structural heart coordinators, Heart and Vascular educators, and navigators,
including students by ensuring that staff are providing quality, accurate work and are utilizing
effective time management (productivity) in doing so.
- Responsible for the supervision of all staff related to orientation, on-going education and
recommendations related to process of workflow and continuous quality improvement and
facilitates the development of unit objectives in accordance with measurable goals in areas
of quality improvement with monthly reports.
Serves as an educational resource and supports staff development for the departments.
Designs and or facilitates professional development educational activities based on current
research and evidence-based practice and that meet organizational goals and objectives.
- Serves as an educational consultant to facilitate task forces, committees, and projects
related to policy, procedures, and program development. Establishes organization-wide
standardized policies and processes based on industry best practices, incorporating change
management principles, and delivering high quality results.
- Facilitate educational and other program development in support of appropriate
documentation and education. Work to implement best audit and compliance practices to
assist in mitigating organizational risks.
- Responsible for regularly meeting with leadership across the IDN to assess and adjust
department process, training, and workflow, ensuring optimization and availability of needed
tools and reference documents to ensure associate and department success.
- Process requests with justification for additional unit needs outside of established budgets to
the Director.
10.Manages operational and capital budgets (paid FTEs as budgeted for volume adjustment)
and ensures compliance with budget expectations and corporate financial goals and
operates the unit within the budget by monitoring the budget monthly and is responsible for
assisting in the completion of a variance report as indicated.
11.Conducts monthly unit meetings with quality assurance issues addressed. Minutes of
meetings kept and made available to all staff not in attendance.

Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, OR conditional and time limited waiver for
Bachelor of Nursing requirement may apply to candidates who enroll in a BSN program
within one (1) year of transfer/hire into role
- Licensure: Registered Nurse
- Certification:
o Must hold and maintain current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider
Completion Card
o Must hold and maintain current American Heart Association ACLS Healthcare Provider
Completion Card
- Work Experience: Two years acute care clinical experience
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
o Experience with EMR/EHR documentation
o Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
o Strong critical thinking skills
o Strong communication skills and professional presence
o Ability to maintain composure in stressful environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Master's Degree
- Work Experience: Previous leadership experience in Heart and Vascular services,
management of large teams
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without
assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting
and/or low to moderate noise
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require
use of personal vehicle
