Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision, artistry, and attention to detail, ensuring consistency and quality in every plate
  • Develop and execute menu items that reflect authentic Japanese flavors while incorporating innovative twists to excite our guests
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety standards and proper food handling procedures at all times
  • Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage of seafood, rice, vegetables, and other supplies
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation during busy service hours, ensuring timely delivery of orders
  • Uphold cleanliness and sanitation standards within the sushi station and overall kitchen area
  • Assist in training new team members on sushi techniques, knife skills, and food industry best practices
  • Participate in menu planning by suggesting new dishes or improvements based on customer feedback and culinary trends
  • Ensure all food presentation aligns with our high standards for fine dining aesthetics
  • Support catering events or special functions by preparing sushi platters or customized orders as needed

Experience

  • Proven culinary experience with a focus on sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine, ideally within a fine dining or restaurant setting
  • Strong knife skills with the ability to perform precise cuts for various fish and vegetables
  • Experience in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling within the food industry
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices
  • Background in menu planning and meal preparation for diverse customer preferences
  • Previous dietary aide or dietary department experience is a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with catering services and serving large groups is advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
