Title: Lead Training Specialist
Location: Production
Reports to: L&D Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary:
The Lead Training Specialist is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating production training program effectiveness that supports operational excellence. Creating various learning assets to provide engaging and relevant content for all production learning levels and needs. Overseeing and coaching Plant Training Specialists to ensure consistency and quality of production training execution. Additionally, the role serves as a backup for LMS administration and Plant Training Specialists job duties when needed.
Essential Position Functions:
- Develop & Deliver Effective Training:
o Develop engaging training content across multiple formats – including eLearning modules, instructor-led sessions, virtual-live sessions, and job aids – to meet diverse learning needs and support operational excellence.
o Utilize eLearning authoring tools to create interactive, user-friendly modules that reflect adult learning principles and are compatible with Reser's LMS
o Facilitate approved training content to production employees and management, ensuring clarity, relevance, and alignment with company standards.
o Measure and report on training effectiveness using both quantitative and qualitative data. Prepare actionable insights for L&D management to evaluate and support production.
- Oversight & Coaching
o Oversee, coach, and support Plant Training Specialists to ensure consistent execution of administrative tasks and training deliverables.
o Promote a customer-focused approach and standardization across all plant locations.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
o Partner with production and L&D leadership to assess and document workforce learning needs using formal assessments, observations, surveys, and other feedback mechanisms
o Observe training activities and share inconsistencies or improvement opportunities with L&D Supervisor, along with recommendations to enhance training quality and effectiveness.
o Provide recommendations based on monitored activities to L&D Supervisor for improved team performance.
- Backup Support
o Provide backup support for Plant Training Specialists in delivering New Hire Orientation (NHO), the L.E.A.D. program, and other production training initiatives and administrative tasks as needed.
o Act as back-up LMS administrator, providing basic troubleshooting, tracking and reporting, course setup, user enrollment, and customer support.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
2+ years in corporate training or public education as an instructor/facilitator
2+ years using Learning Management System
Familiar with elearning authoring tool, graphics software, or similar
2+ years in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution center, or construction work environment is preferred
Ability to manage multiple L&D projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Basic systems troubleshooting skills
Demonstrated ability to apply high school-level math skills – including basic algebra, percentages, ratios, measures – to support training development data within manufacturing environment
Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
Must have strong interpersonal skills and high-level of emotional intelligence
Practical knowledge of Microsoft 365. Able to create MS PowerPoint presentations applying basic design and graphic concepts and formatting best practices. Know how to use basic formulas in MS Excel for tracking, reporting, and analyzing L&D data.
Practices project management skills a plus
Customer service experience a plus
English/Spanish bi-lingual preferred
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Variable temperatures on production floor
Requires walking and standing for long periods of time while setting up and facilitating training
Lifting and bending with packages or equipment up to 20 lbs.
