Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Telemetry to join our healthcare team. This vital role involves providing comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment, utilizing advanced nursing skills and critical thinking. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiac monitoring, acute care, and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and Athenahealth. Experience with complex medical procedures including cardiac catheterization, IV infusion, ventilator management, and aseptic techniques is highly desirable. The RN will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes while adhering to HIPAA regulations and hospital standards.

Duties

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry data to detect arrhythmias or other cardiac events promptly.
  • Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions following proper aseptic technique and safety protocols.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
  • Assist with invasive procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding, and spinal taps.
  • Manage airway devices including ventilators and perform airway management as needed.
  • Document patient care accurately using EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with case management for post-acute care transitions.
  • Provide specialized care for diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, trauma patients, ICU cases, hospice & palliative medicine, behavioral health, and patients with infectious diseases or disabilities.
  • Maintain infection control standards and ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Participate in triage assessments in emergency or urgent care settings when required.
  • Educate patients and families on health management strategies including pain management, nutrition, medication administration, and health coaching.

Experience

  • Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I/II Trauma Centers is preferred.
  • Prior hospital medicine experience with exposure to emergency medicine or surgical units is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with medical-surgical nursing practices along with expertise in ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) and CPT coding for documentation purposes.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth is essential.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures, sterile processing techniques, ostomy care, mammography support tasks, and post-operative discharge planning enhances candidate suitability.
  • Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and other relevant credentials are required to ensure readiness for acute situations.
