Economic Development and Tourism Intern

The Economic Development and Tourism Internship will help City of Redmond staff to perform actions identified by the Economic Development Strategic Action Plan, Tourism Strategic Action Plan and World Cup activities. Jobs duties would include assisting with business relations and small business promotion; tourism program support; event coordination, marketing support and other duties as assigned.

Assignment Duration: Jan 2026-Aug 2026
Hours/Schedule: The schedule for this role will vary. The position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week and no more than 1,040 hours per year. Scheduled may include nights and weekends per events
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist with coordination of meetings, events and promotions including but not limited to activities and events related to World Cup promotions.
- Research and provide updates to content including but not limited to data, blogs and other content
- Research, contact and interview business and events to be profiled in various communications; write and edit content for promotions
- Create a tourism marketing training for tourism funded events
- Conduct research and policy analysis or various economic development opportunities
- Assist with tourism grant promotion and application management.
- Help plan and assist with Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) meetings as necessary
- Assist with user experience of Redmond economic development programs, resource coordination and digital assets (website, social media etc.)
- Assist special projects such as outreach, involvement, and activity planning with the creative economy and home-based businesses
Physical Demands
The following represent the physical demands that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Work is generally performed in a typical office environment and involves moving throughout the facility
- May operate a computer and other office equipment
- Frequent communication with City employees and customers
- Move items weighing up to 30 pounds on occasion
- Noise level is moderately quiet
Education and Experience:
- Enrolled and attending a two- or four-year college or university, or vocational training school
- Experience using computer, including MS Office (email, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel), and general office equipment.
