Job Title: Field Network Engineer (On-Site)

Location: Within 50-mile radius of Manchester, NH (Southern NH/Northern MA preferred)

Engagement Type: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire

Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week

Salary range: $75K – $120K depending on experience

Overview:

We are seeking a Network Engineer to support a large, multi-site healthcare network across New Hampshire and Vermont. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on maintaining and upgrading Cisco-based infrastructure across 70+ locations. Candidates must be comfortable working independently, traveling locally, and collaborating with internal engineering and clinical support teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform switch closet refreshes, router upgrades, and general network maintenance
  • Support LAN/WAN deployments and troubleshoot wired/wireless infrastructure
  • Serve as a field resource for urgent site-level issues
  • Collaborate with internal network engineering and operations teams
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to high-priority incidents
  • Coordinate with third-party labor to ensure quality and compliance with enterprise standards

Technical Requirements:

  • 3–5+ years of experience with Cisco networking technologies
  • Proficiency with Cisco routers and switches (Access, Distribution, Core)
  • Familiarity with Cisco UCS, SD-WAN, ISE, Firepower, and Wi-Fi 6/7
  • Experience with SolarWinds monitoring tools
  • Comfortable working in environments with limited ticketing systems (e.g., Sherwell)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Layer 2/3, wireless, and NAC
  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is a plus

Soft Skills:

  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to travel locally and work independently
  • Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments while maintaining professionalism

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Must obtain a relevant network certification (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+) within the first year of employment

Additional Details:

  • Travel required across regional service area (up to 90%)
  • Opportunity for full-time conversion based on performance
