Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, vital sign measurements, and medical history reviews to establish accurate diagnoses.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluation by ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures such as radiology or ultrasound.
- Manage acute pain and emergency interventions in outpatient settings.
- Provide treatment for a wide range of conditions including infectious diseases and post-operative care.
- Remove staples / sutures following established protocols.
- Document patient encounters accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as PointClickCare or SigmaCare; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Coordinate discharge planning, medication administration including CPT coding for billing purposes, and follow-up care to optimize recovery outcomes.
- Engage in health coaching, patient education on disease prevention, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in outpatient settings.
Skills
- Proven experience working with EMR systems, familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding and CPT coding is essential for billing accuracy.
- Strong clinical skills including basic life support certification.
- Extensive knowledge of physiology, anatomy, diagnostic evaluation techniques, and pharmacology related to acute care and outpatient medicine.
- Skilled Nursing Facility experience is highly valued.
- Ability to handle complex cases involving infectious disease care, pain management strategies and hospice & palliative medicine principles.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in high-pressure environments.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and documentation standards necessary for accurate medical records management.
