Floral Department Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Merchandising: Lead the creation of all floral arrangements, bouquets, and displays; maintain visually appealing, fresh, and seasonal merchandising throughout the department.
- Inventory & Procurement: Manage inventory levels of fresh flowers, plants, and supplies; negotiate with and order from wholesalers and suppliers; ensure proper storage and handling to minimize shrink/spoilage.
- Sales & Service: Provide expert advice to customers for custom orders (weddings, events, etc.); develop and execute pricing and promotional strategies to meet sales and margin targets.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule floral staff on design techniques, customer service, and product care.
Produce Department Responsibilities (Support & Coverage):
- Product Quality: Monitor, inspect, and rotate all fresh fruits and vegetables daily to maintain strict standards of freshness, quality, and appearance.
- Merchandising: Assist in the setup and maintenance of attractive, well-stocked produce displays; ensure accurate signage and pricing.
- Operations Support: Assist with inventory checks, ordering produce as needed, and managing backroom storage and cleanliness; enforce food safety and sanitation procedures.
General Managerial Duties:
- Financial Performance: Manage departmental budgets, monitor sales data, control labor costs, and achieve profitability goals for both areas.
- Compliance: Ensure all departments comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Communication: Coordinate closely with the Store Manager and other department leads to align on store-wide operations and promotions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in floral design/management and a working knowledge of fresh produce handling and merchandising.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and perform physical tasks like lifting and standing for long periods.
