Pay Rate: $25–$27/hour (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview:

The 3rd–8th Grade Unit Head & CIT Program Coordinator oversees day-to-day operations for upper elementary and middle school camps while leading the Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in youth leadership, program logistics, and staff supervision. The Unit Head supervises staff, coordinates daily schedules, handles behavioral and family communications, and ensures smooth delivery of age-appropriate programming (curriculum provided).

In the CIT program, the coordinator facilitates morning Youth Workforce Development workshops and provides afternoon supervision and mentorship to teen volunteers placed throughout camp.

Key Responsibilities:

Upper Camp Oversight (Grades 3–8):

Create and manage weekly schedules for 3rd–8th grade camper groups Supervise and support counselors and specialists within these age groups Coordinate supplies and logistics for all upper camp programs Address camper behavior escalations and communicate with families as needed Ensure activities are developmentally appropriate, well-organized, and aligned with camp goals

 

CIT Program Coordination:

Facilitate Youth Workforce Development sessions (e.g., resume building, interview skills, cover letters, leadership training) Deliver youth development and soft-skill training workshops in the mornings Assign CITs to placements across camp and provide daily feedback and support Monitor CIT performance, encourage growth, and serve as the primary point of contact for their experienceQualifications

Qualifications:

Experience working with upper elementary/middle school youth and teen leadership programs Background in education, recreation, or youth development Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to mentor both staff and teens, and handle behavioral issues with empathy and professionalism Prior experience in program coordination or staff supervision strongly preferred
