Join our dynamic educational team as a Surgical Technology Lab Instructor, where you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals. Responsibilities
- Deliver laboratory instruction on surgical technology skills and standards.
- Grade assignments using learning management systems such as Canvas.
- Supervise students during practical lab sessions, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and proper technique execution.
- Assess student performance through examinations, practical demonstrations, and ongoing evaluations; provide constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development initiatives that incorporate cutting-edge learning technologies and laboratory experiences.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and competency documentation in compliance with institutional standards.
- Support accreditation efforts by ensuring program standards are met through diligent oversight of lab sessions.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with advancements in surgical technology, medical terminology, critical care practices, and higher education teaching methodologies.
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in surgical technology.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology (including animal physiology), medical terminology (including dental and veterinary terms), and patient care practices.
- Background in higher education teaching or adult education environments with classroom experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively teach diverse student populations including those studying pediatrics or acute care disciplines.
- Ability to develop innovative curricula that incorporate learning technology and laboratory experiences for hands-on skill development.
- Organizational skills necessary for maintaining detailed records of student progress and compliance documentation.
