Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our busy rheumatology practice. This role is administratively and clinically demanding and is ideal for a candidate with strong eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience (minimum 1 year) and intensive prior authorization experience, particularly for biologics and specialty medications. The Medical Assistant plays a key role in ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and timely medication access.
Key Responsibilities
- Charting in eClinicalWorks, including accurate documentation and patient updates
- Medication refills and prior authorizations (biologics and other specialty medications)
- Scheduling appointments and maintaining complete, up-to-date patient records
- Assisting providers with patient exams and in-office procedures
- Preparing exam rooms, maintaining cleanliness, and stocking supplies
- Obtaining and recording vital signs and medical histories
- Administering medications as directed
- Assisting with diagnostic procedures and basic life support as needed
- Providing patient education regarding conditions and treatment plans
- Ensuring compliance with infection control and safety protocols
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience – required
- Demonstrated, intensive experience with prior authorizations, especially biologics and specialty medications
- Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or similar healthcare role preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and medication administration
- Familiarity with billing, coding, and administrative workflows
- Excellent communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced clinical environment
This position is well-suited for a motivated Medical Assistant who is detail-oriented, comfortable managing complex authorizations, and committed to high-quality patient care.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently under pressure.
Experience working in a clinical setting is a plus.
