Cardinal Engineering is currently seeking an engineer to provide submarine propulsor manufacturing oversight in support of US Navy submarines. Candidates will be responsible for monitoring and facilitating the manufacture of submarine propulsor components.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining awareness of financial, schedule, and technical status of production efforts.
  • Coordinating regular communications between vendors, technical subject matter experts, contracting personnel, and project management. Conducting recurring status meetings and periodic site visits.
  • Review manufacturing plans, requests for variance, and other technical documentation. Assess technical documentation against existing drawings and specifications. Adjudicate technical issues and requests for variance in collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Review certification documentation against technical requirements prior to acceptance of components.
  • Provide written and verbal briefings on project status of project management and contracts personnel.

The position requires working onsite at the Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division in Bethesda, MD at least 3 days per week.
Must be a US Citizen and currently possess a SECRET security clearance.

The following additional qualifications apply with those followed by an asterisk considered requirements:

Education & experience (*=req'd):

  • BS in engineering, related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience*
  • Industrial/manufacturing engineering
  • Systems engineering

Manufacturing experience, including:

  • Shipbuilding
  • CNC machining
  • Welding
  • Composite Fabrication

Skills:

MS Office software*

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings & technical specifications*
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills*
  • Computer Aided Design
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

Occasional travel will be required in execution of assigned duties.

Salary commensurate with years and applicability of experience ranging from $110 – $145K.
