Manhattan Youth is seeking certified Lifeguards to join our aquatics team at our Downtown Community Center in Tribeca. Candidates must be punctual, reliable, personable, and have a strong desire to work with children and families.

This is a part-time position. Our pool is open:

  • Monday-Friday 8:30am-9:00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 8:30am-5:00pm

We are specifically seeking candidates with weekend availability. Positions to start November or December 2025.

Pay: $18-22/hr, depending upon experience. Candidates who also have experience teaching swim lessons may be eligible for $22/hr+.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all members to the facility and create a warm, welcoming family environment
  • Prioritize safety with a proactive, preventative lifeguarding approach
  • Enforce all aquatics facility policies, rules and regulations
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment including but not limited to pool, pool deck, restrooms, locker rooms, steam room, and surrounding areas
  • Wear proper uniform and be alert and ready to respond at all times
  • Perform other related job duties as required

Qualifications

  • Certified Lifeguard (Must hold valid American Red Cross Lifeguard certifications, or equivalent as recognized by the NYC-DOH)
  • CPR/AED certification, renewed within last 12 months
  • Ability to maintain a positive and energetic attitude and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Swim instructor experience or experience working directly with children in a camp or childcare setting is a plus
  • Weekend availability is a plus
