Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive learning environment and ensuring that the curriculum is followed in the absence of the regular teacher. This role requires a passion for education, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage diverse classroom dynamics effectively.
Responsibilities
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure continuity of instruction.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Engage students in learning activities and encourage participation.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the varying needs of students, including those with special educational requirements.
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere that supports students with diverse backgrounds, including those with autism or other developmental challenges.
- Provide feedback on student progress and behavior to the regular teacher upon their return.
- Assist in curriculum development and lesson planning as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and student performance during the assignment.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.
- Strong background in early childhood education, special education, or literacy education is advantageous.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
- Experience with tutoring or mentoring students is a plus.
- Knowledge of Montessori principles or preschool experience is desirable.
- Ability to adapt teaching styles to accommodate different learning needs and preferences.
