Billing Clerk

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Billing Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting billing processes, ensuring accuracy in accounts receivable and payable, and maintaining financial records in compliance with established standards. Candidates will be knowledgeable about Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial insurances, and will work to verify eligibility, communicate patient responsibility, and liaise with insurance companies regarding eligibility and payment issues. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of billing concepts.

Duties

• Enter invoices into the EHR for clients and customers while ensuring accuracy in billing details.
• Routinely audit patient accounts and payments.
• Liaise with the billing team to provide feedback on patient insurance and account issues.
• Obtain and maintain prior authorizations and single case agreements.
• Provide documentation to support claim submission.
• Conduct negotiations with clients regarding payment terms and resolve any billing discrepancies.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries related to billing and payment issues.
• Maintain organized financial records, including journal entries, debits & credits, and bookkeeping tasks.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analysis as needed.

Requirements

• Certified in medical billing or auditing.
• Proven experience in billing or accounting roles with a strong understanding of financial concepts.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform account analysis and reconciliation effectively.
• Excellent data entry skills with a focus on accuracy; 10 key typing proficiency is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and revenue cycle management is beneficial for roles involving medical billing.
• Strong negotiation skills to effectively manage collections and resolve disputes.
• Exceptional phone etiquette and customer service skills to maintain positive client relationships.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
