Electrical Instructor

Job Summary:
This is a daytime position.
The Electrical Instructor is responsible for delving high-quality instruction in electrical theory and practical applications to students pursuing technical certifications in electrical technology. This position ensures students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to become proficient electricians in the workforce. The Electrical Instructor will teach both classroom-based theory and hands-on lab work, assess student performance and collaborate with other faculty to maintain curriculum qualify and program excellence.
Work Hours: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM / 4 Day Work Week
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction
a. Provide instruction in electrical theory, principles and practices, covering topics such as circuitry, wiring and electrical codes and safety standards.
- Course Delivery
a. Deliver both lecture-based and hands-on lab courses to students enrolled in the electrical technology program.
- Curriculum Development
a. Assist in the development and continual improvement of the electrical curriculum, ensuring it aligns with industry standards and student needs.
- Student Assessment
a. Evaluate and assess student performance through assignments, projects, quizzes and exams. Provide constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
- Advising
a. Offer academic advising and career guidance to students, assisting them in selecting courses and understanding industry opportunities.
- Safety Standards
a. Ensure that all classroom and laboratory activities follow safety protocols and standards.
- Professional Development
a. Participate in ongoing professional development activities to remain current with technological advancements in electrical systems and instructional best practices.
- Collaboration
a. Work with other instructors and staff to maintain a supportive and effective learning environment. Participate in faculty meetings and program reviews.
- Placement
a. Actively collaborate with local companies and industry partners to identify job opportunities for students upon completion of their program.
b. Ensure that students are well-prepared for the workforce by providing job readiness training, such as resume building, interview preparation and networking opportunities.
c. Work toward achieving a company goal of 80% student placement into relevant electrical positions within a defined period following graduation.
d. Monitor and report on placement success rates and adjust strategies as needed to meet this goal.
e. Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers in the electrical field to understand their hiring needs and align student skill sets with job opportunities.
f. Provide one-on-one support to students in their job search process, offering guidance, job leads and job application assistance.
g. Track and maintain accurate records of student placement and provide regular reports on progress toward the placement goal to program management.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience
· High School Diploma or Equivalent.
· At least 3 years of professional experience in the electrical industry or as an electrical technician.
· Prior teaching or instructional experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
· Technical Experience – in depth knowledge of electrical systems, components and installation methods. Familiarity with electrical codes and safety standards.
· Communication Skills – Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, faculty and staff.
· Instructional Skills – ability to each complex electrical concepts clearly and effectively, using a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
· Problem-Solving – strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and guide students through electrical issues in both classroom and practical settings.
· Organization – Ability to manage time effectively, plan courses, and maintain accurate records for student assessment and progress.
Additional Requirements:
· Background Check – Employment is contingent upon a successful background check, including criminal history check.
· Certifications – Current industry certifications as an electrician or in related areas, if applicable.
Working Conditions:
· Full Time Position, with potential for evening or weekend classes depending on student demand.
· Work will be conducted in a classroom and laboratory setting, with exposure to electrical systems, tools and equipment. Proper safety gear and protective measures will be provided.
· Occasional travel may be required for professional development or off-site activities.
