Senior Director of Clinical Services

The Senior Director of Clinical Services is a key leadership role responsible for providing expert clinical guidance and support to nursing staff within skilled nursing facilities. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, adherence to regulatory standards, and the implementation of best practices in clinical operations.

The Senior Director of Clinical Services will treat each resident with kindness, dignity and respect. They will knock before entering each resident's room. They will refer to each resident by their name. They will be courteous to families, visitors and all staff. They will maintain a positive and calm disposition. They will communicate clearly, diplomatically, and effectively when speaking to residents, family members, visitors, staff and any governmental agency personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Expertise and Support:

• Serve as a clinical expert and resource for nursing staff, providing guidance on complex patient care issues.
• Assist in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and procedures.
• Support the nursing team in delivering evidence-based care.

Quality Improvement:

• Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and care quality.
• Analyze clinical data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Implement and monitor quality improvement projects.

Education and Training:

• Develop and deliver educational programs and training sessions for clinical staff.
• Mentor and coach nursing staff to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge.
• Stay current with the latest clinical practices and regulatory requirements.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
• Participate in regulatory inspections and audits.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborate with other departments to support overall facility operations and patient care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff to address concerns and provide education.
• Represent the facility in professional and community organizations.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required; master's degree in nursing or healthcare administration preferred.
• Licensure: Current RN license in the state of [State].
• Experience: Minimum of 7 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a regional or senior regional leadership role within a skilled nursing facility.
• Skills: Strong clinical knowledge, leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in quality improvement methodologies and regulatory compliance.

Working Conditions

May be involved with residents, family and government agencies.

May be requested to work beyond scheduled working hours at times.

Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.)

May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants.

May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

May be exposed to or handle hazardous chemicals.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.

Working throughout the nursing areas

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, lifting more weight up to 100 pounds requires assistance.

Ability to read fine print on tablet, progress notes and/or medical labels.
