Reporting to Position: Safety Manager, Safety Technicians, and Safety Administrators
Position Status: Salary; Safety Sensitive
Position Objectives
The Safety Manager will act as the lead for safety, health and environmental issues. They, along with supporting Field Safety Technician(s), are the lead safety resource for employees in coordinating and addressing daily safety activities and company safety compliance.
General Requirements

o Valid Washington State driver's license with an insurable driving record

o Ability to obtain and maintain TWIC credentials
o Ability to pass ongoing drug & alcohol testing for this position & participate in a drug-free workplace
o Available to regularly work 45 hours per week
o Proficiency using computers and MS Office Suite software
o Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task
o Demonstrates commitment to a safe and injury-free work environment

Specific Responsibilities and Duties
Have the creativity and ability to modify cultures or mindsets to improve safety performance
Establish themselves as the company's resource for safety solutions
Participates in daily site safety surveys and works with personnel to help address any deficiencies
Facilitates the coordination and delivery of safety meetings, safety surveys and safety trainings
Assist in the implementation of new safety related programs
Monitors daily activities to assist with questions or concerns
Training others on procedures and periodically audit for compliance
Fosters discussion and feedback from site operational teams on possible new safety programs or initiatives
Hold morning safety discussions with plant personnel to discuss various safety topics
Involved in daily Job Hazard Analysis of high-risk activities to help ensure safety issues are addressed
Work with site leadership in the development of effective safety training programs
Participate in accident investigations to identify root causes and assist with resolving action items
Demonstrate commitment to a safe and injury-free work environment through own actions and mentoring others
Efficiently and professionally communicate with all contacts, regardless of position
Makes professional, educated and sensible decisions
Able to creatively solve problems and be flexible
Functions effectively as part of a team
Self-starter with an instinct for determining what is in the best interest of the company
Meets or exceeds specific deadlines, project schedules or other requirements; able to organize work
Daily Duties May Include:
Manage third-party compliance and audit systems (ISNetworld, Avetta, Veriforce, NCMS)
Manage annual documented safety inspections (Fall protection, breathing air, rigging).
Ensuring that daily and weekly safety surveys are completed and monitored.
Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Risk Assessments.
Assist employees with safety observations and near-miss reporting. Follow up on safety mitigations.
Ensure monthly bump test on personal H2S monitors.
Ensure monthly calibration of 4-gas monitors.
Maintain appropriate inventory of PPE and purchasing stock.
Ongoing gap assessment of mandatory compliance training.
Monitor and ensure employee competency for equipment operation and skills.
Coordinate and conduct hands-on training as necessary.
Manage new-hire training.
Manage weekly safety meetings on various sites.
Manage annual fit test for employees.
Managing drug and alcohol testing programs.
Manage accident investigations and corrective action implementation.
Manage annual inspection and maintenance of fire extinguishers.
Manage first aid kits and supplies.
Lead morning tailgate meetings.
Manage worker's comp claims.
Work with the HR Department in tracking oversight & management of employee competencies , updating records, and managing career paths.
Back-up the safety administrator in tracking the badges/training expirations and scheduling the renewals for employees
Assist HR Manager with DOT compliance.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Safety degree or related technical undergraduate degree
o Five years (min.) experience as a safety professional
o Knowledge of state, local and U.S. Government regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
o Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
o Confined Space Entry Supervisor
o Ability to train, mentor and supervise others
o First-Aid/CPR certification
o Computer skills including proficiency in MS 365
