The Nurse Practitioner is a member of a collaborative health care team and functions as a primary health care provider that determines the patient's health and medical status by taking a health history, performing physical exams, initiating screening and diagnostic procedures, providing health maintenance services, pregnancy management, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness.
The Nurse Practitioner demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and assesses data reflective of the patient's status. The Nurse Practitioner interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs, and provides care, according to departmental policies and procedures. Seeking full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our dynamic, team-based ED Observation Unit. Job responsibilities will include managing acute and chronic illness in the adult and geriatric populations with predicted short hospital stays. Shift times will include day and evening shifts with shared weekends and holidays. This role will include both onsite care and will be responsible for providing telemedicine coverage for our other community hospitals. Experience is preferred, but we will thoughtfully consider all applicants.What We Require:
Education: Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Experience: 0
Licensure/Certification: Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP), DEA license and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required. AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced Life Support certification preferred. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
Other: Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers, good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
