Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Virtual Production Supervisor/Specialist to join our innovative studio in Oklahoma City. This pivotal role demands a deep technical understanding of cutting-edge virtual production technologies, including LED volume integration, processing, and server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will also possess expert-level proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 for environment creation and optimization, alongside a proven ability to manage project budgets and generate accurate client quotes. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can troubleshoot complex systems, drive artistic vision through technical execution, and contribute significantly to the growth and success of our virtual production capabilities.

Essential Job Functions

• Technical Lead for Virtual Production Systems: The primary technical expert for all virtual production hardware and software, including LED walls, LED processors (Brompton), media servers, virtual production software (Disguise), and camera tracking systems.
• Unreal Engine Environment Development: Lead the creation, optimization, and integration of high-fidelity virtual environments within Unreal Engine 5, ensuring real-time performance and visual fidelity for virtual production shoots.
• Budgeting and Quoting: Develop detailed project budgets and provide accurate cost estimates and quotes for virtual production projects, considering hardware, software, personnel, and operational expenses.
• On-Set Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level technical support and real-time troubleshooting during virtual production shoots, quickly resolving issues related to hardware, software, and real-time rendering.
• Pipeline Development and Optimization: Contribute to the development and refinement of efficient virtual production workflows and pipelines, automating processes where possible to improve productivity and quality.
• Research and Development: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in virtual production technology, recommending new tools, techniques, and hardware to keep the studio at the forefront of the industry.
• Manage Team: Manager junior technical staff, sharing knowledge and best practices in virtual production technologies and Unreal Engine workflows.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest quality of virtual environments and on-set real-time composites, performing rigorous testing and quality checks.
• Client and Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring project requirements are met and expectations are managed.
• Traditional Production Assistance: Capable of stepping into traditional production roles as needed per project, such as camera operating, lighting, grip, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• Bachelor's degree in Game Development, Digital Media, Film Production, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in virtual production, real-time graphics, or a closely related field.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Expert-level proficiency with Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprint scripting, Sequencer, nDisplay, Lumen, Nanite, and material/shader development.
• In-depth knowledge of LED video wall technology, including panel specifications, processing units, and calibration processes.
• Strong understanding of media server software and their integration within a virtual production pipeline.
• Experience with camera tracking systems and their integration with Unreal Engine.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets and create accurate, detailed cost estimates and quotes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Expert-level proficiency on traditional production sets in various roles.
• Experience with other 3D software packages (Maya, Blender, Substance Painter/Designer) for asset creation and optimization.
• Familiarity with network protocols and infrastructure relevant to virtual production (e.g., PTP, genlock, high-bandwidth networking).
• Experience with LIVE broadcasting technology and live switching.
• Experience with performance capture (MoCap) systems and data processing.
• A portfolio demonstrating strong technical artistry and successful virtual production projects.

Sufficient mobility and strength to move about the facility. Ability to be mobile throughout the community.
