Program Overview
JRM's Summer Internship Program is a 10-week paid experience from June through August, designed to introduce students to the construction industry. Interns work alongside experienced professionals across both field and office settings, gaining meaningful, hands-on exposure to real projects. The program provides valuable insight and practical experience to help prepare students for a successful transition into full-time employment.
You will experience:
- Departmental Immersion (Mondays – Thursdays): Work hands on with your Intern Supervisor to gain practical experience within your assigned department. Your supervisor will guide your development, ensuring that your work is meaningful and achievable, aligned with your learning goals while helping you build strong relationships across JRM.
- Professional Development Fridays: Join fellow interns each Friday for a day focused on learning, connection, and giving back. Activities include:
- Community Engagement through volunteer projects with JRM-supported charities.
- Learning and Development Workshops on communication and skills training including Excel, Resume and LinkedIn optimization, and Presentation Skills.
- Field Experience with project site visits led by JRM Superintendents.
- Intern Research Initiative: Partner with fellow interns on a team-based research project addressing a real-world opportunity or challenge within the construction industry.
Project Focus
During your internship, you'll have the opportunity to focus on one of the following key project areas:
- Interiors
- Buildings (Upgrades/Ground Up)
- Healthcare
- Retail
- MEPS & Critical Infrastructure
- Marketing
- Accounting
Roles
Your internship will be focused on one of the following areas:
- Superintendent: Oversees day-to-day construction activities on site, ensuring projects stay on schedule and meet quality standards. Focuses on keeping everyone on-site safe, following regulations, and implementing safety programs.
- Project Management: Coordinates all aspects of a project from start to finish – budget, schedule, team, and client communication. Ensures the project is completed efficiently and meets client expectations.
- Estimating: Calculates cost for materials, labor, and time to help plan and bid for projects. Sees how much an entire project costs during the pre-construction stage and starts the bidding project & works with the client on what we offer.
- Marketing: Responsible for executing marketing initiatives and helping to develop creative new strategies and material to support JRM's business development efforts.
- Accounting and Finance: Responsible for managing the company's financial health and ensuring fiscal responsibility across all construction projects. Oversee accounts payable, budgeting, forecasting, job costing, billing, and compliance while maintaining accurate financial records.

Qualifications
- Minimum:
- Currently a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Marketing, Graphic Design or a related field.
- Preferred:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
Salary Information
To the extent this position is performed in New York City, the hourly pay rate for this internship is $22/hr.
