Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is looking for a remote Systems Administrator to manage RF communication systems for the U.S Coast Guard's C5I Service Center.

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, installs and maintains operating and systems software, manages systems configuration, monitors compliance with system standards, evaluates software and/or hardware, administers and maintains user accounts and profiles, and performs operating system troubleshooting.
  • Administers, develops, runs tests, implements, and maintains operating system and related software.
  • Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems.
  • Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and performs data recoveries.
  • Recommends hardware and software upgrades according to growth statistics and disk space forecasts.
  • Provides technical support for system users.
  • Performs work under direct supervision.
  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or Network Engineering and a minimum of three (3) years of system administration experience is required, OR
  • Certificate from an accredited Community or Technical College in System Administration and five (5) years of system administration experience is required.
  • A current System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Security+ certification is required.
  • Additional specific information assurance certification requirements may be required at the task order level.
  • Active Secret clearance (or able to obtain and maintain one).
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.

Desired Qualification:

  • Experience with Coast Guard systems.
