General Summary
The Transport Driver is responsible for safely operating a variety of vehicles and trailers to transport freight and equipment to and from various job sites, yards, and or vendor locations. May require travel outside of Arizona.
Essential Job Accountabilities
Safely operate a tractor trailer combination including doubles and triples.
Ensure all loads are secured, safely load and unload freight and/or equipment at designated location.
Perform pre- and post-inspections on truck, pursuant to DOT regulations, company guidelines and manufacture's specifications.
Maintain truck(s) and equipment according to the standards set in place by the company and manufacturer's specifications.
Comply with all DOT, state, and local truck and highway laws, rules, and regulations.
Safely operate all equipment in compliance with all legal weight and load size limits.
Communicate with dispatch, superintendents, and equipment personnel.
Accurately complete required documentation.
Assist crews with other tasks as required when not transporting.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Must have valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Doubles/Triples and Tanker
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
Work Experience
- 3-5 years of tractor-trailer, lowboy, and flatbed experience, required.
- Heavy haul or construction equipment transport experience.
- Oversize/overweight hauling experience.
- Experience operating heavy equipment, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to safely operate vehicles/equipment through all types of environments, including off road and job sites.
Ability to work, day, swing, and night shifts (occasionally extended hours).
Ability to work in constant exposure to outside elements, in all weather conditions.
Ability to work in safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.
Ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined spaces.
Physical Demands
Physical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination with ability to: grasp, assemble, and lift objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders onto equipment or other objects, and potentially lie down.
Lifting, pushing, pulling of heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
Additional Requirements/Skills
- Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
- Ability and willingness to abide by Granite's Code of Conduct daily.
