This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the year and reviewed based on department need. Instructors in this position will teach Trade Skills Fundamentals, the foundational course for the Chemeketa Campus-Based Pre-Apprenticeship Program. Classes are offered on the Salem campus, off-campus at community based organizations, and in correctional facilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaches assigned classes following approved course outline; prepares and develops materials for assigned classes; provides students and college with course syllabi and recommends textbooks and other instructional material and/or equipment
  • Provides classroom environment conducive to learner growth in a variety of delivery methods (individualized, small group, lecture/discussion); instructional duties and group facilitation
  • Maintains student records of grades and attendance; scores practice tests and develops student educational plans

Minimum Qualifications

Three or more years of construction and/or manufacturing experience

-AND-

Experience using hand and power tools safely

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching and/or coaching experience
  • An apprenticeship journey-card
  • An Associate Degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • OSHA certification
  • NCCER certification

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position belongs to the bargaining unit and begins at Step 1. Please refer to current salary schedules here for more information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work:Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
