Part Time - Night ShiftJob Overview:This is a dual role of STNA and Unit Coordinator and may perform the duties as listed for both roles during each shift as directed. While acting as an STNA, this position will provide direct patient care to Hospice of Cincinnati/Hamilton patients under the direction of a registered nurse. This position provides assistance and/or performs basic activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, assistance with ambulation, etc. and the STNA will serves as provider of companionship and emotional support, even during times of crisis. This position is responsible for knowing safety policies and following approved procedures. When performing as a Unit Coordinator this position performs clerical duties as assigned, including accurate data entry into the electronic medical records. Must have interpersonal skill to communicate with respect and compassion to customers. Demonstrates knowledge of safety/emergency policies and procedures and appropriately corrects any identified hazards. Places emergency calls timely as directed. Communicates appropriately and effectively with internal and external customers (i.e. staff, patients, families, other departments, etc.). Relays accurate and complete information. Maintains confidentiality. Takes an active role in maintaining patient satisfaction (i.e. way-finding, quick response to call lights and phones, etc.). Maintains the medical record. Documents accurately in the medical record as per unit/Hospice of Cincinnati/Hamilton guidelines. Performs computer downtime procedures according to guidelines. Maintains proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to their unit/job. Provides other clerical support to unit as needed and directed by charge nurse or manager. Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN. Maintains competency of tasks in which the STNA is trained. Completes assigned tasks within required timeframe. Seeks clarification from the nurse when in doubt about how to proceed. Maintains proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to unit/job/ (i.e. maintaining census, accurate scanning of documents, accurate transcription of physician orders in facilities not yet live on TriHealth Connect). Is knowledgeable of the function/operation equipment specific to the role on the unit. Performs supply, equipment, and environmental-related activities as required. Recognizes and reports problems with supply/equipment availability in a timely manner. Reports and follows through per unit standard concerning equipment that is broken or malfunctioning. Assures equipment/supplies are readily available for use by next person. Is knowledgeable of the function, operation, and maintenance of equipment specific to their role on the unit. Demonstrates/maintains knowledge of organizational and unit changes. Supports organizational and unit changes. Acknowledges need for self growth and accountability.
