Merrillville, Indiana, United States Seeking General Manager for NWI hotel Full time

We are currently hiring for an Assistant General Manager at the Tru by Hilton Merrillville. The ideal candidate has previously Hotel Management experience, open availability, and a passion for hospitality and mentoring staff.

Position Overview:

Assist with operations for 101-room focus-service Hotel and related facilities to ensure efficient and profitable operation. Oversee the Front Desk operations & communicates with the departments: Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, , Maintenance, and Grounds. Reports directly to the General Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist General Manager in planning budgets for all departments
  • Assist General Manager in all aspects of human resources, including hiring, evaluation & annual reviews, training, grooming, discipline, termination, and benefits. Cross-train with other departments as a backup.
  • Submit all payroll/HR paperwork to our corporate office.
  • Answer guest complaints and resolve problems. Respond to comment cards and guest emails.
  • Code invoices for proper accounting practices and expenses.
  • Send/scan/email/invoices/correspondence to the corporate office on a regular basis
  • Manage the daily deposits and petty cash for the property. Manage all tills to ensure that each has proper change.
  • Retrieve, open, and distribute mail, email, and faxes as they are delivered.
  • Create or use the existing format to implement a standard format for scheduling front desk staff work shifts. Schedule shifts to work the front desk & fill in or coordinate coverage when needed.
  • Assist General Manager & Sales department in processing reservations, and maximizing revenues. Communicate with Central Reservations on a consistent or as-needed basis.
  • Work with the corporate office staff to assess risk management and control losses, both in terms of employee safety and guest safety and security.
  • Maintain communication with department heads through emails, regular department head meetings, property walks, and any other means deemed appropriate.
  • Update the monthly Corporate Calendar of events, special dates, meetings, etc. to be posted.

The typical schedule will include working on Saturday and Sunday.
