Summary
The Academy for Global Citizenship is seeking a passionate culinary professional to join our team. This role is based in Chicago and plays a vital part in creating nourishing meals that support our mission of developing mindful leaders. You will contribute to an environment that fosters curiosity and sustainability. It is presently contracted through the end of the school year, but may develop into a part or full time year-round position for the ideal candidate.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook components of nutritious meals for students and staff.
Bake pullman loaves, bagels and English muffins weekly to serve 600 people
Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met consistently.
Collaborate with educators to integrate culinary lessons into the curriculum.
Assist in menu planning with a focus on sustainability.
Maintain kitchen equipment and inventory effectively.
Provide exceptional customer service to students and staff.
Participate in community events promoting healthy eating habits.
Train and mentor students interested in culinary arts
Qualifications
Experience with commercial production baking
Proven experience in food production, preparation, and cooking.
Strong understanding of food safety regulations.
Excellent knife skills and culinary techniques.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Passion for teaching and engaging with students.
Experience in catering or restaurant settings is preferred.
Knowledge of sustainable food practices is a plus.
