POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Maintenance Inventory Manager, the Maintenance Inventory Supervisor is responsible for managing the storage and inventory of materials, supplies, and spare parts in support of RTA's operational mission of providing safe and reliable service. Manages, supervises, and coordinates the day-to-day operation of the storeroom, ensuring its safe and efficient functioning. Identifying necessary parts that need to be ordered to support operational needs. Receiving and stocking materials in an organized and timely manner. Tracking receipts and issuances of materials, ensuring accurate inventory records. Monitoring fuel levels and maintaining an efficient system for fuel tracking. This role is crucial to maintaining a smooth and organized storeroom operation that supports the organization's maintenance needs effectively.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works closely with Maintenance staff to assure all parts and materials required for maintenance and repair vehicles are adequately and accurately stocked.
  • Monitors, develops, and implements procedures necessary to ensure supply and equipment inventories are maintained at sufficient levels.
  • Control costs by being watchful of wasteful practices, scheduling and reviewing routine cycle counts and periodic physical counts, implementing effective perpetual inventory techniques, and improving existing practices as needed.
  • Maintain all management reports and metrics necessary to audit the performance of the department and individual employees.
  • Develops and applies methodologies and statistical analysis to forecast, schedule and manage inventory to maximize efficiencies while minimizing inventory levels and financial investments in vehicle parts identifies appropriate intervention to resolve problem and streamline inventory processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring timely reporting and accurate data from Fleetwatch, EAM, Ross, or any other software programs used in the management of inventory, including but not limited to, end of month reconciliation of fuel tanks, fuel issues, and other fluids that are stored in tanks or in inventory.
  • Maintains and reviews reports available in Maintenance Management systems and make adjustments as required.
  • Develops strategies to optimize inventory levels without jeopardizing availability and to minimize material obsolescence.
  • Identifies and codes obsolete and non-active parts in the system and coordinates rework and/or substitution Works with Purchasing to dispose of obsolete and surplus inventory.
  • Works closely with the staff to identify parts to be disposed of over a five-year period, based on organizational fleet plans. Manages RTA's obsolescence program in accordance with RTA policy.
  • Ensures safety and security of materials, supplies and property and keep storerooms and storage areas maintained in a clean, orderly, safe, and secure condition.
  • Supervise the daily work activities of all storeroom personnel.
  • Updates and maintains Inventory employees' personnel and attendance records.
  • Works with staff regarding storeroom issues, personnel issues, and special projects.
  • Schedules and supervises annual physical inventory.
  • Requires punctuality and regular attendance.
  • Supports the mission and goals of the RTA.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Maintenance Inventory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Material Control. This role ensures the team functions efficiently and aligns with organizational goals. Key responsibilities include:

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Standard office environment with occasional exposed to environment with some physical inconvenience in the storeroom, outdoor inventory locations or inventory locations that are not temperature controlled. Subject to high noise levels occasionally where buses and/or other equipment may be operating. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normally seated at an office desk with freedom of movement with some required walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Ability to distinguish colors, ability to drive RTA automobiles as needed, ability to communicate verbally by radio, telephone, or computer.

POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED SCHEDULE: Full-time position, 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday.

TRAVEL: Minimal travel required, primarily local for conferences or training. No expected overnight stays.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as a supervisor dealing with vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment, materials management, purchasing or manufacturing.
  • Ability to work with multiple software systems that may be integrated to maintain inventory and purchasing of materials and supplies.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel, and the ability to read, understand, interpret, and make decisions based on data analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience managing inventory in an automated environment, preferably in a transit or similar operating environment.
  • Experience in the active management of a storeroom, utilizing leading-edge materials management techniques and knowledge of the inventory requirements of transit-related facilities and equipment preferred.
  • Experience managing/supervising employees, preferably in a union environment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is an exempt, pay grade 15 position with an initial salary hiring range of $60,069 (minimum) to $75,088 (midpoint), dependent on qualifications and experience.
