Mission-driven, high quality Federally Qualified Community Health Center seeks full or part-time Board Certified or Board Eligible Primary Care Physician (Family or Internal Medicine) to join our excellent team of physicians. Neighborhood Health has been providing high quality care to the poor, uninsured and underinsured community in Northern Virginia for over 25 years. We have won national recognition as a quality leader amongst FQHC's and currently serve over 40,000 patients. The position is for outpatient medical practice in Arlington, providing medical care to clients of the Arlington Department of Human Services in collaboration with psychiatric and case management teams. Excellent support team of dedicated nurse and medical assistant. No evening hours, and limited call responsibilities. Federal loan repayment opportunities may be available.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The Family Medicine Physician provides quality clinical services to children and adults throughout the life span within a community-based setting that promotes healthy lifestyles, prevention of illness and injury and management of chronic conditions. Activities involve direct patient care, physical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, referral for health and nutrition education, referral for specialty services as needed and follow-up. Provides care in collaboration with the center's team of physicians, nurse practitioners, behavioral health and dental providers, pharmacists, nurses and medical assistants.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Functions: Duties and responsibilities noted with bullets are considered to be the essential functions of the job).
- Provides complete, comprehensive, patient centered outpatient primary care to patients of all ages, including health examination and treatment of medical conditions, to include follow up of any problems detected.
- Performs patient history and physical assessment; utilizes laboratory and diagnostic tests for differential diagnoses; performs minor surgical procedures, as appropriate, with follow up treatment as medically indicated.
- Manages acute and chronic conditions, develops a plan of care and coordinates care within an integrated primary care team
- Provides timely and accurate documentation in patient medical record.
- Refers for specialty care and follows up with patient as indicated.
- Collaborates with nursing, health education, behavioral health, dental, pharmacy and other support staff to assure maximum patient access to support services.
- Works closely with clinical staff to ensure a team approach to the delivery of services and a holistic approach to patient care.
- Participates in an on-call system to back up nurse triage service as needed.
- Participates in Neighborhood Health peer review program.
- Participates on Health Center committees as appointed by Chief Medical Officer.
- Attends regular staff meetings and trainings as required by Neighborhood Health.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Assists with developing, coordinating, and/or recommending improvements in program area.
- May be assigned to various projects to advance the development or program area.
- May be asked to assist during weekend or evening.
- Able to work under minimal supervision.
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of four years of medical school and residency in a certified program.
- Must be board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine. If not board certified, must obtain certification within one year of hire.
- Dedication to the mission of Neighborhood Health and to working with an underserved population.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse work force and client base.
- Prior outpatient clinical experience preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish/English Preferred.
