Engineering Field Technician

As a BRC Engineering Field Technician, you will be trained to safely and expertly conduct site and vehicle inspections around the country. The inspection training will include photography, 3D laser scanning, EDR (black-box) downloads, and aerial photography via drone. Some disassembly of vehicle components may be required. The Engineering Field Technician will also participate in inspections, crash tests, and demonstration events held in our San Antonio facilities.

If you are mechanically inclined, have accident investigation experience, and would like to become an integral part of a forensic engineering team, this may be the job for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel as needed to conduct vehicle inspections and site inspections
  • Vehicle inspections include but are not limited to:
  • Taking digital photos and videos
  • Taking measurements
  • Three-dimensional (3D) scanning
  • Event Data Recorder (EDR) imaging
  • Piloting an aerial drone
  • Partial non-destructive disassembly of vehicles
  • Working in various weather conditions

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate
  • Background or knowledge of automotive-related topics
  • Knowledgeable in the use of personal computers
  • Knowledgeable on how to read measurement devices
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to Travel 90%
  • Reliable transportation

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in engineering technology, automotive maintenance, or a related field or five years or more experience in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Mechanic training
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Prior automotive inspection experience
