Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and ventilation systems.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents to accurately service and install equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on mechanical systems to optimize performance and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Conduct plumbing repairs related to HVAC systems and ensure proper integration with building infrastructure.
  • Utilize tools such as ohmmeters, welding equipment, and other diagnostic devices to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Repair appliances and mechanical components involved in HVAC/R (refrigeration) operations, including ammonia refrigeration systems where applicable.
  • Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document all repairs for compliance and future reference.
  • Operate a driver vehicle safely to transport tools, parts, or equipment between job sites.
  • Collaborate with property management teams to ensure ongoing property maintenance and system upgrades meet safety standards.
  • Follow safety protocols rigorously during field service activities to protect yourself and others from hazards associated with HVAC work.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a service technician specializing in commercial HVAC systems or related mechanical fields.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC design principles, schematics interpretation, and system troubleshooting techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with refrigeration systems—including ammonia refrigeration—and boiler operation is highly desirable.
  • Mechanical knowledge encompassing plumbing, appliance repair, welding, and general equipment repair is essential.
  • Familiarity with HVAC/R standards, property maintenance procedures, and the use of diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters.
  • Prior field service experience working on air conditioning units, ventilation systems, or mechanical equipment in commercial settings.
