Technical Director (AM Newscasts)

Do you thrive in fast-paced environments? Are you an early bird ready to kick-start the day? KTVZ News is looking for a part-time Technical Director to join our morning news team.

Broadcast or production experience is preferred, but we're willing to train the right candidate. If you're reliable, eager to learn, and ready to work behind the scenes in live television, this could be the role for you

What You'll Do:

  • Direct and operate live newscasts, bringing together cameras, video, and graphics for a smooth broadcast.
  • Learn to use industry standard systems like Ross Carbonite, Inception, XPression, Streamline, and Crispin.
  • Work closely with producers, anchors, and fellow operators to keep our shows running on time.
  • Troubleshoot and adapt quickly to keep us on air when challenges arise.
  • Prep the studio and control room before each show, checking graphics, camera shots, and video playback.

What We're Looking For:

  • Dependability is key Reliable transportation and on-time attendance are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • A collaborative attitude and willingness to learn new systems.
  • Comfortable working early morning weekday hours (think pre-dawn starts…early birds welcome).
  • Prior broadcast or live production experience and/or education is a plus but not required.
  • Must work on-site in Bend, Oregon.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screenings.
