Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Family Support Specialist to join our team. This role involves providing critical support to families and children navigating complex social and emotional challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in child welfare, social work, and crisis intervention, with a passion for making a positive impact in the community. The Family Support Specialist will work closely with families to promote safety, stability, and well-being through tailored support services and resource coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Assess family needs and develop individualized support plans to promote child safety and family stability
  • Provide crisis intervention and manage urgent situations effectively to ensure immediate safety
  • Offer guidance on child protective services, family law, and behavioral health resources
  • Facilitate communication between families, social service agencies, schools, and legal entities
  • Support families in navigating complex systems related to child welfare and childcare
  • Conduct home visits to monitor progress and provide ongoing support
  • Educate families on conflict management, behavioral health strategies, and parenting skills
  • Document case progress accurately while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with agency policies
  • Advocate for children's best interests within legal and social service frameworks

Qualifications

  • Experience with children, child protective services, or related social work fields is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of child welfare laws, family law, and crisis management techniques
  • Strong skills in crisis intervention, conflict management, and behavioral health support
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust with diverse families
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, professionalism, and discretion
  • Background in social work or related fields is desirable; relevant certifications are a plus
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to supporting vulnerable families and promoting positive outcomes for children

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 per year
