Job Title: Backhaul Driver, Be a Key Ingredient in Our Recipe for Success 

Location: West Palm Beach, FL

Compensation: $32.63/hr. overtime after 40 hours

Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Dispatch between: 1:30am to 3:00 am

Position Overview

Incumbent is responsible for transporting and delivering freight to franchise stores and/or production kitchens safely, legally and on-time. This position requires working in environments with variation in temperature and humidity (e.g., dry, cooler and freezer areas of the trailer, along with changing outdoor weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Safely operates a tractor trailer truck that transports product to and from specified destinations.
  2. Conduct a proper pre-trip inspection to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate.
  3. Ensures delivery-related paperwork is in order before departing the Distribution Center or transportation hub.
  4. Prepares, receives and provides appropriate documentation for the delivery of products.
  5. Assists with the loading of trailer at supplier locations.
  6. Detaches loaded trailer and picks up empty trailers in a safe manner into store locations.
  7. Maintains proper logs of travel and product according to Federal, State and DOT regulations.
  8. Maintains contact with Member Services / applicable operations transportation personnel to communicate any delivery problems or delays.
  9. Ensures the cleanliness and presentation of the interior of the truck cab.
  10. Conducts a proper post-trip inspection to ensure equipment is in good working order to minimize delays the following day.
  11. Timely reports any vehicle maintenance or malfunction issues to the appropriate Transportation Supervisor.
  12. Utilizes a high level of customer service in serving as the primary NDCP point of contact between the Distribution Center and the supplier.

Supervision Exercised

No direct supervisory responsibilities but may direct a Delivery Assistant assigned to the route.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred
  2. Current Class A CDL and Medical card require.
  3. Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) in accordance with NDCP's hiring requirement
  4. Ability and willingness to operate a manual and automatic transmission tractor
  5. Ability to safely operate a refrigeration unit and a lift gate
  6. On Board Computer/Electronic Log System experience preferred
  7. Ability to read a map and/or follow written directions to navigate assigned routes efficiently and safely
  8. Demonstrated knowledge of DOT regulations and Commercial Motor Vehicle requirements
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional customer service mentality
  10. Ability to work effectively in an individual and team environment
  11. Effective decision-making skills and sound judgement
  12. Ability and willingness to work varying work schedules, as needed, to support NDCP's operations
  13. Minimum of six (6) months Class A CDL driving experience. Experience driving in the food industry is highly preferred
