The Opportunity
Our client, a leading project management and engineering consultancy, is seeking a
Project Manage
r to support major power infrastructure projects across California. In this role, you'll provide leadership across large-scale projects, collaborate with industry experts, and ensure high-quality outcomes on complex initiatives spanning
transmission, substations, and data center builds
.
Role & Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Strategy
- Provide strategic leadership in a matrixed environment, driving alignment across
engineering, construction, procurement, and client teams
. - Manage multiple concurrent projects with varying scopes across
Data Centers, Transmission, and Substation builds
.
Full Lifecycle Project Management
- Oversee
Initiation, Planning, Execution, and Close-out
phases. - Define project
WBS, Cost Baseline, and OBS structures
, ensuring alignment with contractual and regulatory requirements. - Monitor and control
scope, schedule, budget, and risk
using industry best practices and performance indicators (SPI, CPI).
Stakeholder & Communication Management
- Serve as the primary interface between
clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities
. - Lead regular project reporting and stakeholder updates, ensuring
transparency, accountability, and issue resolution
.
Team & Vendor Coordination
- Manage
cross-functional project teams
and third-party contractors, removing barriers to execution and fostering a
culture of performance and accountability
. - Provide oversight into
construction and commissioning activities
, ensuring delivery to scope and safety standards.
Governance & Compliance
- Implement and enforce
Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety standards
across all project phases. - Ensure adherence to
permitting, regulatory, and interconnection requirements
, including projects with government or utility funding.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in
Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
. - 5–10 years of experience
managing
large-scale infrastructure projects
in Transmission, Substation, or Power Generation (Gas, Hydro, or Renewables). - Experience managing
Data Center construction or mission-critical facilities
is highly valued. - Strong working knowledge of
project controls, risk management, and earned value management
. - Familiarity with
government or utility-funded project requirements and reporting
. - Proficiency in
Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint
, and other project management tools. - PMP certification
or
P.Eng license
preferred (or in progress). - Excellent
communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
with a results-oriented mindset.
