Product Data Specialist

A dynamic Industrial Distribution company located in Southeast Texas is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and Product Data Specialist to join our team. This role focuses on product data integrity, standardization, and accuracy. You'll help ensure that our internal systems and customer-facing listings are consistent, searchable, and well organized. You will manage product attributes, prepare select SKUs for web publication, and coordinate with vendors to source missing data when it's not provided through our existing data provider.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, or Information Systems
• 5 years experience in Industrial Distribution
• Strong product knowledge in industrial hoses, welding equipment and supplies, safety products, MRO products, and janitorial products
• Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Proficiency in Excel (lookups, sorting, filtering, data cleaning)
• Experience working with large data sets
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Experience with product categorization, data normalization, or category management tools is a plus
• Ability to break down complex projects into manageable phases and prioritize tasks based on business impact
• Experience working with product data in an ERP system
• Comfortable with Windows based software, ERP Systems, and Data Management Tools
• Able to interpret strategic direction and break it into technical steps

ERP Data Maintenance & Cleanup

• Help create rules for standardization of products within ERP System
• Identify and resolve data inconsistencies, duplicates, or incomplete fields
• Add and verify Manufacturer numbers (MFG #) for product listings
• Assign and verify manufacturer names in ERP
• Assist with consolidating and reorganizing overly specific or outdated product categories
• Maintain clean, structured data to support purchasing, pricing, and inventory workflows
• Support product line categories to support pricing structure put forward by management

Web Content Preparation

• Determine which products are web-eligible based on business rules
• Assign web categories to approved SKUs
• Feed enriched product data to the website utilizing DDS category management tool or manufacturer imports

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Operations, Marketing, Sales, and IT to support data improvement efforts
• Help streamline the flow of product data between ERP, PIM, and web platforms
• Support internal process improvements for product onboarding and categorization
• Collaborate with marketing to align product structure with campaign needs
• Assist in setting up new item numbers for sales personnel and the purchasing department as needed

Vendor Coordination & Data Enrichment

• Identify gaps in product data and work with vendors to acquire missing product data
• Organize and manage documentation such as spec sheets, safety data sheets, videos, and images
• Work with marketing to ensure web-eligible products have all the necessary content for online display

General & Safety

• Maintain all aspects of the "Gopher Industrial Employee Commitment to Excellence"
• Attend training classes on products as required.
• Study material and educate self on products outside classroom training.
• Be flexible - Responsibilities can vary depending on the direction or requirements of the company.
• Promote safety within your department and throughout the company.
• Keep the work area and department organized, clean, and orderly.
• Attend monthly safety training and work in a safe manner.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55, $65,000.00 per year
