White Plains Hospital Job DescriptionTitle: Maternal Child Associate Job Code: 800362Department/Location:Maternal Child HealthDivisionFLSA Status: NonexemptReports to:Nurse ManagerPosition SummaryMaternal Child Associate acts as an office assistant for the Neonatal ICU, Mother-Baby and/or Labor and Delivery and must demonstrate good guest relations with patients, physicians, staff, auxiliary departments, communityagencies and the public. The Associate keeps all patient charts current with the most recent forms and demonstrates accurate, timely collating of any patient admissions. The Associate ensures ordering and maintenance of clinical and clerical supplies for the unit as well as assists with data billing/charges for patients and admissions data input.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.Transcribes other data as directed and enters on patient's chartEntering of Doctor's orders into the OC systemAssists with patient data billing and patient chargesPerform necessary typing tasksOrdering and maintaining of clinical and clerical supplies for both Post Partum and Labor and Delivery unitStocks and maintains supplies on the units.Performs all other related duties as assigned.Education & Experience RequirementsHigh School Diploma or EquivalentKnowledge of medical terminologyBasic computer skillsAbility to use multi-function phone system and handle several calls at one timeGood writing, spelling and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionCore CompetenciesAttention to detail and accuracyCommunication skills: Must be able to speak, write, understand and communicate the English language. Utilizes good telephone skills/etiquette. Able to maintain composure in stressful situations and organization in a chaotic climate.Teamwork: Able to interact with staff, patients, physicians and others, both within and outside the hospital in a positive and courteous mannerMust be physically able to maintain manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, stamina, ability to lift, push, pull, bend,stoop, walk, etc. for extended periods of time.Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work EnvironmentMay be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).
