Responsibilities:
- Actively promote and ensure adherence to safety protocols across all phases of the project, fostering a culture of safety within the team and on project sites.
- Review RFPs and prepare comprehensive and competitive proposals for service-based projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and organizational capabilities.
- Lead the conceptual design, procurement, and planning phases for substation projects, including high-voltage (HV), medium-voltage (MV), low-voltage (LV), underground, and overhead transmission lines.
- Oversee the project lifecycle, including scheduling, budget management, scope definition, and change management, to ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining quality standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the client, external stakeholders, and internal teams, facilitating clear communication, managing expectations, and resolving conflicts to ensure project alignment and success.
- Provide technical guidance and decision-making throughout the design and construction phases, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, providing mentorship and ensuring efficient collaboration across all team members.
- Regularly track and report project progress, identifying and addressing any deviations from the planned schedule, budget, or scope.
- Participate in on-site inspections and fieldwork, ensuring alignment between design plans and site conditions. Address challenges and implement solutions as they arise.
- Ensure all project activities comply with regulatory requirements, environmental standards, and organizational policies.
- Handle diverse projects within the electric grid space, including innovative and proven technologies, with potential involvement in distribution networks, private systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
This role requires approximately 25% travel to project sites. When not traveling, the position follows a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and two days remote.
Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of industry experience, including high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage substations.
- Experience in various phases of project execution, including conceptual design, procurement, and construction.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Professional licensure such as PE, P.Eng, or an equivalent credential.
- Ability to manage complex projects, lead multidisciplinary teams, and interface effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and best practices in the electric grid sector.
- Capability to complete pre-employment requirements, which may include background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records review.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and environments.
