Correspondence Specialist-FT/Days

Job Description
The Correspondence Specialist reviews all insurance and patient correspondence identified either through incoming mail or system stored. The specialist is responsible for taking appropriate action based on the content of the correspondence using established practices. The specialist is also responsible for providing triaged data to the appropriate team members for cash posting or follow-up.
Responsibilities
Distributes remittance advices, EOB, and/or patient communications to appropriate team member.
Opens all mail received to the physical location.
Responsible for working correspondence work queues within the electronic health system.
Documents receipt of all paper correspondence appropriately.
Updates and/or corrects patient insurance and demographic information as needed.
Sends claim correction requests as needed based on received correspondence and follows-up to ensure process completion.
Performs special projects and other related duties as requested.
May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time.
Qualifications
Required Education: High School Diploma / GED
Required Experience: Minimum one (2) years of experience with payment allocation and/or reconciliation. Experience with automated RCM systems and electronic and manual payment posting. Strong PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets. Must have the ability to learn and utilize custom systems and applications. Ability to reconcile multiple accounts efficiently and analyze large volumes of transactional financial data. Results-oriented mindset coupled with the ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously. Ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience in an engaging manner. Experience analyzing healthcare claims data in a healthcare environment is preferred.
