Position Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY MECHANICAL/AEROSPACE ENGINEER in the Air Systems Group, Air Vehicle Engineering Department of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • You will serve as a Subsystems Branch Head, responsible for the overall technical leadership and management of the Subsystems Branches. The Branch Heads plan, control and direct all activities of the Branch, both technical and branch management.
  • You will serve as a technical expert in the disciplines managed by the Branch and establish technical policy, technical requirements, and the means of requirements verification associated with acquisition certification engineering.
  • You will be the technical authority on the certification and application of air vehicle subsystems technology in air weapon systems and equipment and are responsible for review and certification of air vehicle subsystems, components, and processes.
  • You will maintain and update in-house laboratory test facilities so that the facilities meet or exceed national/military standards for testing components and systems under the cognizance of the Branch.
  • You will define the requirements and tasks needed to ensure that the health and performance of safety critical air vehicle subsystems are maintained and sustained throughout the total life cycle of naval aircraft.
  • You will review, formulate, establish, and negotiate all engineering requirements and criteria governing the design, certification, life limits and in-service integrity of air vehicle Subsystems via specifications, expertise, standards or procedures.
  • You will participate and represent the Navy on appropriate panels, boards, committees, and advisory groups that address issues pertinent to Subsystems engineering issues, as well as future directions for research/technology and development.
  • You will evaluate proposals for new and modifications of existing air vehicle subsystems to determine acceptability or identify deficiencies with design and development of aircraft Fuel, Hydraulics, Thermal, Landing Gear, and Mechanical Subsystems.
  • Air Vehicle Subsystems consists of Thermal Systems, Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Fuel Systems, Fuel Containment, Aerial Refueling, Mechanical Systems and the Naval Aviation Subsystems Safety Integrity Program.
